Have you quit alcohol for ttc?

I stopped drinking to see if I made a difference to fertility. I’ll be starting ivf in a few months. I’m really missing a wine as it’s my vice during stressful times. Is it ok to have a couple when I’m on my period? Or best to just ditch it completely?

I cut down and stopped 3 months before ivf. I read it takes 3 months to develop egg quality. I got 13 eggs at collection. 8 were mature. 6 created the highest quality embryos and 2 were fair quality. Try mindful ivf or some relaxation videos. You can get non-alcoholic wine, prosecco, lager, beers etc

I cut down a lot when ttc.  When I did IVF though - no alcohol.  Look up studies on this, success rates are higher for people who don’t drink.  you’re already putting your body through a lot with the injections so there’s no good reason to add alcohol to the mix.  I also cut back on exercise when doing stims (there is also research on this) and meditated daily.   Got a BFP after first IVF cycle!   Good luck to you.

I have cut down my alcohol to one or two glasses of wine a week. But I did this because I wanted to. My doctor did say my partner needs to cut his intake though as it reduces sperm quality. We have been TTC for 6 mths now since our last miscarriage in January.

I didn’t. Furthermore, I was having bad days, I was overwhelmed, tired of thinking anything more than I need; and began drinking more, especially that month, like every single day. I am 33 years old btw and 24 weeks pregnant 🙏🏻😊

I wanna jump in. What about your men? Stop? Cut back? My husband had varicoceles removed nov 2017. From then until June he stopped drinking totally. April 2018 showed surgery did work! Everything is normal now. His doc said 2-5 a week is ok. Let’s be real these men can drink over 5 in one night on the weekend out here at my house around the fire. We argue and struggle with this. I say to limit but he does not think he needs to as he’s ok now. But I say just bc ur ok does not mean these drinks can hinder you?! He only drinks on weekend but say he does two nights of social drinking he can easily be at ten beers. Ugh this is straining our marriage. I just want to get pg so we can stop arguing over this. Alcohol addicts have kids fine sometimes too so all of this is just confusing. We see a RE tmr for first time and bet your ass I’m asking about this lol

I didn’t stop drinking before egg retrieval. I have one ovary. They retrieved 18 eggs and we ended up with 8 to freeze. 31 weeks from first FET. Good luck!
