midwife??

Question

So I was just chatting to my friend from the UK, (I'm also from the UK but moved to the US last year) about my pregnancy and what I should start buying/what I need. And she said "your midwife will help you with all that." But it got me thinking, do women even have midwives in the US?? I'm so new to all this, my first pregnancy and I was just curious as to if you just see your obgyn all thru the pregnancy or if there are midwives!!!  I googled it bit didn't find much.Thanks xx

I have a midwife I love! she is in a OBGYN practice and delivers exclusively in the hospital. some deliver in birthing centers and some do home births, just depends on the midwife. it's most common to have an OBGYN in the US but many women go to midwives as well. generally you don't go to both but it depends on the practice.

I have a midwife and did with my previous pregnancies as well.

I'm on my third pregnancy and have never used a midwife. Some people make that choice though.
