my boyfriend and i have been together for about 3 years and possibly this weekend i would like to lose my virginity to him... any tips on how to make sure i wont contract an STD or become pregnant even if he has a condom on?

Well the only way you could get an STD is if he's either had one for 3+ years, or he slept with someone else while you were together. As for pregnancy- some condoms have spermicide in the lubricant but they also sell this stuff at target called VCF. It is Vaginal Contraceptive Film; you put it up inside you and it melts before you have sex and it kills any sperm that could be there. Also using birth control and a condom together are very effective. A good way to make sure your condom doesn't break is to use a condom safe lube as well. From personal experience, things are tight enough that the extra lube will help how it feels as well as reduce friction and chance of rips.
