Leaking fluid?

Question

How do I know the difference between leaking amniotic fluid and vaginal fluid or urine?? I had this happen earlier and I usually know my body pretty well but I’m kind of unsure now. Help ??

When I was 36 weeks I stood up and a gush of fluid came out (I was naked so it got on the floor). My doctor made me come in and they tested my vag for remnants of amniotic fluid. Turns out it was negative and maybe I just peed myself? SO I’d say call doctor to see if they want you to

When i was leaking amniotic fluid, it just kept coming but in slow small leaks every couple minutes. Then my ob told me to squat and cough and my water full on just broke all over. Now with this pregnancy if I feel like I’m leaking I do that and so far has just been either urine or watery discharge. As your baby drops lower you have a pretty big increase in discharge. Also you can leak urine without feeling like you have to pee and without it looking/smelling like urine. One day I stood up and I didn’t even have to pee and urine went down my leg, i was tested at my ob and it was negative for amniotic fluid. I also noticed your comment too about losing pieces of your mucus plug, that doesn’t mean anything. I’ve lost pieces 3 times, once at 27 wks, then 32, then a lot at 35. I’m almost 38 wks now and although I have been contracting and dilated at a 2, im still not progressing enough to be in labor and who knows when my daughter will actually make her arrival.

usually if your water breaks, it'll be a gush of fluid,  then the occasional leaking of more fluid. if you try to hold it in and it stops, then its not amniotic fluid, where as amniotic fluid will just keep going

Put a pad on and if you soak it within an hour could be your fluid leaking
