MIL doesn’t understand the phrase, “no thanks.”

Before my son was born MIL insisted on buying her grandson a crib. I kindly refused as I was comfortable with his pack & play. Fast forward 4 months and he’s co-sleeping (yea, yea, I know. I said I never would but...) the pack and play has been taken down and a new crib arrived in the mail. 4 months later, after I mentioned that my best friend had purchased a pack and play for us. We have no space for it so it’s sitting in the kitchen, still in box and all. I told my husband that I was uncomfortable with it sitting there and now we are in a big fight because I said, “I’m sorry but I told your mom I never wanted a crib.” I understand it’s a gift and I appreciate it but had she asked I would have said, “thank you for thinking of him, he has a pack and play, he cosleeps, but would you be comfortable purchasing his high chair instead?” I guess what I am saying is, am I in the wrong here? Am I just being ungrateful?
