My body simply doesn’t go into labour on its own. I was still pregnant at 42 weeks with my second and just opted for a repeat csection. I refused a csection before then and they really couldn’t force me to do it. I don’t see why you couldn’t have it done at 40 weeks. My first was born at 39 weeks and he was so jaundice. Second born at 42 weeks was totally fine with some prune looking skin. For this one I also want a csection at 40 weeks. I’ve never gone into labour on my own so I doubt it will happen now.

My first was an emergency. My second was scheduled at 39 wks. The objective is to do the csection without you going into labor. The closer you get to your due date, the more likely you are to go into labor which makes it more complicated.

It depends on why you had a c-section the first time around. For example, my sister in law was able to schedule at 40 weeks because she had a traumatic first vaginal delivery with fourth degree tears up and down. Doctors were avoiding her having recurring injuries. I’m having to schedule at 39 weeks because they don’t want me going into labor due to a previous placental abruption during labor.
