How long did you wait to drive after csection?

I know what the doctors recommend, but how long did u really wait? Tomorrow will be one week since i had my baby. I feel like i could drive. Honestly, i need to get back to work, but my job requires driving. Theres’s no way i can wait as long as they recommend. Has anyone had a bad experience from driving too soon?

Driving is different than having sex. With sex before 6 weeks, you risk serious infection and/or hemorrhage. 
With driving, they say it’s because of the risk of pulling/ripping. I’ve always driven once my OUTSIDE stitches healed, because you face basically the same impact and risk as if you are a passenger.

I wouldn't risk it. You need your abdominal muscles to slam on the breaks. You are putting everyone's life at risk including your own and many the baby. Call an uber, cab or a friend. There's no excuse!

I had to wait 2-3 weeks. I waited til 3. Mostly because I couldn’t lift my baby in the car seat yet so it’s not like I could leave him. Obviously if you are taking pain meds you shouldn’t be driving. I didn’t have any trouble driving but it did feel weird! No more big belly to contend with!

I wasn't told I can't drive but I declined anything stronger the Tylenol.
The only reason I can see not to, assuming you feel up to it is if your taking medications that could effect your ability too do so safely

I drove the day after I came home from the hospital. (3 days was my stay). Had to get my daughter to school and my son was a NICU baby so I was my only transportation.

A shame to admit I didn’t follow directions. I drove 3 days after I was discharged. No one was able to drive me to the nicu that day to see my LO so I drove myself. And I was fine tbh.

In the UK your recommended to not drive for 6 weeks and are supposed to get ‘signed off’ to drive at 6 week check, my insurer said that I wasn’t insured until that point and to be fair I didn’t really feel up to it until then. However my sis in law was able to phone up and inform her insurer and drive after 2 weeks.

My dr said when I could stomp my foot realky hard in the ground (slam on the brakes) without pain then I could drive. I always waited 2 weeks.

My doctor never actually told me to wait to drive. Just not to drive while taking the pain medication. I drove after a week and like two days. I had to drive my son to his doctors appointment by myself.

My pain meds don’t seem to have any side effects for me as far as feeling tired or dizzy, surprisingly. They used glue on my incision instead of staples or stitches, if that makes any difference.
