Boyfriend snooping?

Last night I fell asleep pretty early and around 11 pm my boyfriend woke me up and said he was plugging in my phone for me and that our friend (his friend first) texted me and my cousin. When I woke up I didn’t have any of these notifications on my screen. I asked him if he unlocked my phone because maybe he was curious what our friend texted me? He got defensive and said no he didn’t do that. He said that him as an intellectual wouldn’t have made it so obvious if he did. Then he turned the question on me and asked if there’s a reason not to trust me???? I was literally just wondering where my notifications went that he told me about. Sounds fishy. Our friend texted me about a band I should check out... all innocent and there’s absolutely no reason he should t trust me. Do you think he signed into my phone to see what our friend said or my notifications just disappeared through the night?

I mean, notifications dont just magically go away. You either have to open them, or swipe them away.

It is possible he looked and the defensiveness shows he did. However, maybe he is just worried about someone taking you away. 
I have had occasions where my iPhones notifications disappear and I have no idea why it does it but randomly this happens. 
Maybe sit an have a chat with him and see if he is ok?
My boyfriend was in an abusive relationship before me and he constantly doubts himself says he is a bad bf and things like that... men can get insecure sometimes just like us. 
Maybe offer him your phone and tell him that you have nothing to hide so he can take a look. If he refuses thats his choice but then he cant say you are hiding anything that way.

My husband goes through my phone on occasion. I guess when he feels insecure. I do the same. When I feel insecure. Neither of us takes it as a big deal. I have nothing to hide. We have each other's passwords. On his new work phone he set my finger print as well :) because he knows how I get sometimes. And doesn't want me to worry about shit that don't exist. I have his comp pass as well and he has mine. So we could use each other's computers. I haven't heard interest in snooping in a long while. But when I get the urge and see there's nothing to worry about it gives me great satisfaction. Idk what this is? Maybe reassurance of some sort. I wouldn't get upset. I don't. Often time he doesn't even has his phone on him so he uses mine to call and text. I on the other hand don't go anywhere without mine and it has to be charged at all times. I hate when my battery dies. Idk how long you guys have been together. Maybe missed that part. Just talk to him and let him know you have nothing to hide and ask him if he read the messages and let him know if it bothers you. Don't keep things in. I kinda do, it's not nice and I'm working on voicing myself as soon as I dislike something. I'm almost there. I'd say I'm at 80-20 now (as opposed to keep 100% in and then blow up at some point).
