What to do about step kids

Well I have a daughter of my own and my husband has two little girls of his own we get them EVERY WEEKEND TILL Sunday at 5. When my daughter stays with my parents on the WEEKEND. My husband acts so different with his kids he's more loveable with them he treats my daughter nice but sometimes he's to harsh on her and he.knows.I don't like that, what should I do

My husband has told me once or twice that I'm a little hard on his son, my stepson.

But honestly I think he's too easy on him. He almost never holds his son accountable for his actions, gives him whatever he wants, doesn't set a bed time, or even a bedtime routine.

And his mother babies him too. He's nearly 10 and cries for hours if he so much as falls down w/out injury. (He runs to his daddy and expects to be picked up and coddled) Will not try new foods and if you make take a bite he tries to make himself throw it up.

But I'm digressing. My point is, i believe in tuff love. it's my opinion that it's the struggles and hardships and how we cope with our hardships that make well rounded adults. Kids need to have burdens sometimes because they are garunteed to go through a tough time durring adulthood.

I have 2 step kids, you'll never love someone elses kids like you do your own. Its just the way were wired. If hes too harsh though definitely talk to him.

Maybe he seems harsh to you at times because your daughter lives with both of you. He interacts with her more, can see her mischief or times when she is has tantrums or is not so good. If he only sees them on the weekend then it would affect his mood. Think there is a saying, 'it is easy to love someone you barely see' because you don't witness them at their worst.

I wouldn't have married him✋😤 my husband treat my two oldest as if they where his own. We have two together so in total we have four and one in they way. I made it clear when we decided to date that my children are to be treated as your own . He has adopted my oldest ( who's father isn't in her life) and we couldn't be happier. I think you need to put your foot down and tell him to change ASAP

I'm a stepmom. I don't have any kids of my own but I treat my stepdaughter very well. We have an awesome relationship, currently we are cuddled up watching movies while her daddy is at work. If I had a child and I noticed my significant other treating my child differently than his than I would say something. Epecially since the child will notice that they are being treated that way. Sometimes we need to bring a persons actions to their attention. Maybe he doesn't notice he's doing it. He's naturally going to be more comfortable with his own children. I'm still learning with my stepdaughter. Sometimes I'm worried about saying certain things because we're still learning boundaries. I'm not her mother and I never will be. I try to stay out of decision making when it comes to her because that's for my significant other and my stepdaughter's mother to decide. Just speak to him about how it's making you and your child feel.  Good luck.

My daughter has.NEVER.met her real dad so she thinks and feels that my husband is her dad and I'm worried that one day there mom will tell my daughter that she is not

From my own personal experience being a step parent is very challenging. I have a 14 year old step son. I struggled with his mouth for the past 3 years very negative towards me and only me. I found a few things on the internet that was very helpful. I think step parenting is even harder if you have no kids of your own which is my case. The most rare thing I seen (most helpful) on the internet was do it like she would. That shocked me because I hate the way she parents but I tried it with some things and noticed s positive change in his behavior.

I have four children, two daughters and two boys, two daughters 19 and 3, my two boys 15 and 12, my fiance has two daughters 16 and 13, he treats my youngest daughter like his own most of the time, I struggle with his 16 year old, she takes my clothes and my bras with out asking, we butt heads all the time, she will say I'm not her boss and she doesn't have too listen too me, I kno I will never be her mom, they have not seen there MOM or spoken too her since the 13 year old was one, I have tried too be nothing but nice, I baked cupcakes and cookies for there parties at school, home made, I have volunteered at school for several thing's for them, my boys go too a different school so I try too go too things for them if I'm notified about them which most of the time I'm not, my son called me on Sunday too tell me he had been abused by his dad I went too the school too take pictures with the guidance counselor in the room, I returned at 1:45pm too pick him up from school went into the school's rest room and had a miscarriage I was 13 weeks and 6 day's

Just talk to him and explain how that makes you feel. He should I understand and hopefully do better
