Baby lotion(???)

So I’ve gotten a lot of samples of baby lotions, I know it’s a big thing but I don’t really know why. Are babies born particularly dry? I asked my mom and she just told me I was pretty well moisturized on my own(I’ve always been pretty greasy 😝) and she never used lotion on me. Is it an every baby thing like shampoo or an as needed thing like diaper rash cream?

It’s actually best if you don’t use lotion on them in the beginning. Their natural balance should take care of it - and if you use lotion, that will throw the natural balance and oil production off. You’ll really only want to start using lotion if they develop eczema that becomes problematic.

Nope, the only babies I know who had dry skin were washed every day (newborns really don’t get dirty, the only parts of them that do are spot cleaned)
My girl was born same time of year and I never used lotion on her and still don’t.

I used baby lotion from the gate on both my girls . They smell good afterwards, have soft skin , have that baby smell , and never got eczema. It was just routine after a bath .

My winter baby I did lotion.. especially if we had to go out. Summer baby rarely if at all really...

Some need it some don't 🤷 I personally just used plain coconut oil when needed

I’ve never used baby lotion on my boys, I done a baby massage course with my 1st and they showed me how to make my own baby oil for massage. Both of them haven’t got dry skin the only creams I used was nappy rash creams.

With my older boys I think I put lotion on them maybe 3x when they were babies, they weren’t really dry
