Cervix check and nurse said he stripped my membranes?

Had my first cervix check at 36 weeks. Doctor said I am one fingertip dialated . I bled immediately. When I went out of the office I asked the nurse at the nurses station if bleeding was normal. She said yes and that he probably stripped my membranes. What does that mean! I had cramps all day that day and the following morning I wiped and it was thick yellowish discharge with a dried up blood from what I think was from the day before. It’s been 3 days since and I’ve stopped bleeding and having cramps. What happened?

They wouldn’t do it that early, drs wont induce labor without medical reason and definitely not without your consent. Bleeding after a cervix check can be normal and the discharge is more likely some of your mucus plug. It can regenerate it self.

I don’t think he would strip them without asking first. Bleeding after cervix checks is 100% normal. Some cramping is normal too and may also be BH.

They wouldn’t have done that so early. The nurse probably was guessing. Bleeding is normal after a cervix check. So is cramping. Discharge after was probably your mucus plug but that means nothing. It doesn’t mean labor is close.

He should have discussed that with you and obtained consent if you wanted to go ahead. I would go back to see him to clarify what’s happened and then take it from there x

Stripping at 36 is really early. Did it hurt?  Membrane stripping usually hurts, cervical checks are uncomfortable. I had my membranes stripped Friday but I was already 40 weeks. Not sure doctors would do it at 36 since it can induce labor and you’re not full term yet.

That’s pretty early. My doctor won’t do it until 38+ weeks and only if asked.
