23 Weeks and Sick in Hospital

Sophie

Around 8:45 pm last night I started having some cramping on my left side. I decided to try to take a shower to see if that could relax my muscles at all and the cramps just seemed to get so much worse. By 9:30 pm they were absolutely unbearable. Luckily my husband was able to come home from work early and, as soon as he got home, took me to the ER. They immediately took me up to the maternity ward to get checked in. I was terrified that something was wrong with the baby. After what felt like a lifetime, the on call doctor came in and checked my cervix. 100% closed! None of the pain I was feeling was baby related either. Speculation is that it’s just a GI Virus. Apparently, there have been quite a few cases going around in my area. They’ve been pumping me with fluids and keeping me under watch. The cramping on my side has gone down substantially, but they’re keeping me another night since I’ve still had a fair amount of vomiting. Husband has been by my side since we got to the hospital. And we’re hoping to go home tomorrow. Apparently when my mom was pregnant with me she had the same problem. This baby girl is already giving me a run for my money.
