Weight and breastfeeding
I have been doing some research online, and frankly, I can’t find a lot about breastfeeding and weight. Everything anecdotally says that breastfeeding helps the mother lose weight. However, in my friends group, and made more clear since Serena Williams spoke out, a lot of women do not lose weight. In fact, many gain weight.
I have lost all of my baby weight plus more without trying at all, to the point that I had tests done because, as someone who has been overweight all my life, I’ve never been one to shed pounds without exercising every day and dieting. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, but I still feel somewhat strange. I have been shamed multiple times, and people who haven’t seen me in a while never ask about my baby—they comment on my weight loss. This is rude and hurtful to me.
