Twin towers, okay for a 6 year old first grader?

Do you guys think that it is inappropriate for a 6 year old to be taught about the twin towers, shown pictures of the towers on fire, and also to hear about how many people died?
My sons teacher wants to start teaching that lesson to her FIRST grade class, and I'm not super okay with it. I honestly dont think he is mature/ emotionally ready for that kind of thing.

I think it’s important to be taught, alongside war, slavery and the plagues. However it is all down to how it’s taught and how they tackle such a heavy subject for the younger children. 
If you’re uncomfortable with what’s being taught, maybe ask the teacher if they could explain how they’re teaching it and what the content is? That way you can have your input with your child too, perhaps before the lessons to prepare your child for a heavy subject?

There is a lot of shitty stuff in history. It doesn’t mean we stop teaching it

It feels a lot more raw because we experienced it 1st hand, but for our children who didn’t experience it it’s no different than being taught about other history. What about wars? A lot of people lots their lives in the civil war, would you have her not teach that?

I would be ok with it. My husband spent 3 deployments in Iraq. He struggles with PTSD on a daily basis and sometimes it's hard for him to be "here" when he is sitting right next to you.. they should know it wasn't for nothing.
