Racism: Asians.
I'm Asian myself, in fact.. south east Asian. I'm darker than the typical ones from the North, like China. Growing up, I've been bullied all my life simply because of my race and the fact that I'm darker.
I've been told "You're Asian, so your opinion doesn't matter." Or that I should go bathe in some bleach just so my skin tone matches the "typical" Asian you see in a magazine. I'm harassed at school because my "eyes are so small, it's no wonder you can't aim," when in all honestly, they're just as functional as anybody else's!
I'm constantly told to stop "acting white, and to go back to wherever the fuck you came from in Asia." When in fact, I was born in America, and I can't help that I don't speak Chinese. I don't eat dogs or cats!
I've been rejected and outcasted because of my race before. Until this year, the most diverse colleges would reject certain people in favor of racial diversity. Who was rejected the most? Asians.
I feel like the movie, "Crazy Rich Asians," has significantly changed our place in Hollywood, as we are often only in roles such as the Karate Master, or the Nerd.
Do you feel Asians are misrepresented in America? Why or why not?
