preeclampsia- my story ( WARNING : possible anxiety trigger)

Gone • Nope

My first pregnancy was great until 36 weeks, at my doctors appt I went in and found out my blood pressure was on the rise and I needed to do a 24hr urine. I took my test back and hooked up for my non-stress test to monitor my son and myself...my blood pressure kept rising the whole time. The OB came over to the hospital and I was admitted immediately, my vitals and weight was taken...in 24-48 hours I had gained over 40lbs with seriously hard working/begging to fail kidneys and my urine was off the charts with proteins count...my blood pressure was beyond "liveable" numbers. they put me on a mag drip to lower my pressure and try to stabilize me then I had 6-7 nurses around me for my surgery prep...catheter, IVs, cutting clothing off, and vitals monitoring. my actual c section went well from a surgical stand point but my son was breech and had fluid in his lungs and was sent to a NICU. after my c section I got to talk to my doctors and was informed on just how severe my condition was...I should have died...my blood pressure was to the point where I should have had a massive heart attack--I didn't. I had no symptoms of how bad I was...and that was terrifying .My son is now 16 months old and was only in the NICU for 10 days....I got lucky.

the only way to get better when you have preeclampsia is to deliver...no matter how far along you are no matter what anyone says...that's the sad truth. if you choose to wait you, baby, or both can potentially die.

preeclampsia is NOT just high blood pressure....Its blood pressure, high protein content in your urine, and how badly youre swelled/kidney function. (I put those two together because they're related)

this isn't meant to scare but I've seen many people (on multiple sites) say they had preeclampsia (for attention I've assumed) and only have had high blood pressure or minor swelling and it scares people because many don't truly know what preeclampsia is. so please if you're told you have preeclampsia listen to your doctor's...and if you have symptoms please look things up and get checked out.

and just to clarify this point....there is no 100% true way to prevent preeclampsia...there a many things you can try but if you're going to get it, then you are.
