Insurance issues
Hi ladies, I’m 11 weeks and I’ve had 2 OB appointments and 2 ultrasounds. Our insurance covers a pregnancy and we shouldn’t get a bill if the services are “coded correctly”, according to our insurance. Well apparently, the doctors office has been coding the visits as “medical” not “preventative”. I just learned that medical would be if one has an issue that isn’t preventive, like maybe burning off warts. Anyways, a billing person from the office called me and told me that pregnancy is preventative because you can prevent it... um okay wtf. I looked into it and pregnancy + newborn care is indeed preventative.
For any of you that have had insurance issues, is this true? Is a pregnancy really medical and not preventative.
When it comes down to it, we’ll pay the bill if we truly have to but right now it seems like we’re getting jipped by the doctors office. It’s so frustrating
