🤱🏽Breastfed Toddler🤱🏽
I get a lot of negative comments and strange looks, when I say I’m still nursing my almost 23 month old.
I never made it past 6 months with my others, and it’s one of my biggest regrets.
(My whole brood)

FYI: I do NOT knock bottle feeding moms. I’ve done it! You have to do what works for YOU & YOUR BABY. This is just MY story...
FACTS:
☑️The American Academy of Pediatrics, states that the first 6 months is crucial, but that a mother should breastfeed her baby until 1 year, if possible.
☑️The World Health Organization recommends to do so until AT LEAST 2 years.
☑️The average age, worldwide, that a mother weans her baby is 2 1/2 years.
I didn’t know all of that! I wish I had! I wish I had stuck it out for my other kids. I beat myself up over it a LOT!
I consider breastfeeding my youngest this long, a HUGE accomplishment and as I said, only wish I had nursed my others longer.
Obviously, I’m not trying to be breastfeeding forever, but I’m grateful and pretty proud of myself for making it this far.
REALITY: I haven’t had more than 2-3 hours of consecutive sleep in almost 2 years. The first few weeks, and even sporadic ones in between hurt like a MOFO! I wake up most mornings feeling as if I have been in a car accident with soreness from sleeping awkwardly while nursing. My CHEST CAVITY was sore today. Instead of LOSING weight as some moms do, I have STORED it during this time.
In other words, I am fat, sore, & exhausted.

But Mamas, just look at that healthy, happy little face! The bond is amazing and NOBODY can tell me that it’s not worth it.

Thanks for reading, and God bless each of you on your baby journey!
