While visiting my husbands family I witnessed my husbands cousin literally smack her one year old nephew in the face for throwing goldfish crackers on the sidewalk. He began to cry and then she told my husbands 8 year old sister to hit him if he keeps crying. What would you have done in this situation? I know other cultures raise kids differently but she hit him IN THE FACE. I was literally stunned. (she's 27 btw, not a child)

The mother was at her hotel at the moment. She hits her kids too so of course she lets anyone do it also..
