Who picks up kids?

Question

If dad has custody on weds after school to pick up kids from school per custody order. And school notify parents on weds morning of school closing unexpectedly at 2pm Which parent is responsible to pick up? Mom or dad?

Whoever has them that day. Unless they can’t get off work or something. Coparent. Help each other out.

I would say it’s Dad responsibility. However, I also think coparenting should be flexible and teamwork. My ex couldn’t take off the last time our son was sick so I did- no big deal. He offered to take off next time. The kids are what matter not the legality of who should do what when IMO

I would say Dad, unless he can’t get there because of work. Then I would say the mom. The important part is the kids get picked up from school.

Does the custody agreement specify a specific time? Sometimes they say “dad gets the kids at 3 o’clock on Wednesday until 8 PM Wednesday night” or something like that. If it does then dad doesn’t get the kids until it’s that time.
But the truth is I would think and hope that the parents could work it out so that this was fair to everyone involved – maybe take turns or something like that. Presumably mom gets the kids 75% of the time and so typically school closings would fall on her days, so perhaps it’s a bigger burden for mom to have to take Wednesdays as well.

Whoever’s day it is, is the responsible parent regardless is it early release or school closing early for X reason is still the responsibility of the parent who has the children that day or that overnight.

If only it was that easy to co parent. Some men don’t like when the woman has more control so they make it difficult especially when the women is not messing up with the kids...

Coparent! Its teamwork. Tonight normally my daughter would be going to her dads. He works tomorrow and I happen to be off. Guess what? I’m keeping her and she will go tomorrow when he gets off. Who cares whose “responsibility” it is. The children belong to the both of you.
