Just asking out of curiosity . What happens if you don’t start at 6 months and delay it ?

I've heard food before 12 months is just for fun really and to get them practicing eating and exploring new tastes. however I'm a ftm so I can't actually couch for that Lol i plan on starting at 6 months, which is in a couple of weeks.

You don’t have to. But waiting so long can result in speech delays as they learn how to use and strengthen their tongue with eating so that talking happens. It’s all connected.

The only thing that MIGHT happen is you’ll have to feed baby more often as their appetites will increase, which will take up more of your time and babies. It’s also been shown that it can cause picky eaters later on if you wait, as well as the possibility of mild anemia. I’d always ask your Dr before making the decision, because each baby and situation is different. What worked for some moms and babies may not work for you

I waited until six months and until my most recent baby showed signs of wanting it. I started too early with my firstborn at the recommendation of my pediatrician because he had some blood in his stool. I regretted that. The poop changes and it’s just another new stage with new challenges. It is factual that the only nutrition they need within the first year is breast milk or formula. Food is definitely for fun and experimentation. I don’t know anything about this eczema, allergy, speech delay info that people have written about so I would ask your doctor if you’re concerned about that. But if my baby didn’t show interest, personally, I definitely wouldn’t try to push it. It’s a whole new ballgame once you introduce solids. I liked waiting and if I ever had another one, I’d wait with that baby too.

I waited with my daughter until after the 12th month and the pediatrician said she would be fine. She was fine on weight and development. Your baby uses their tongue and reflux muscles while bottle feeding just as much as they do on foods. But every baby is different
