What would you have done?
I work at a movie theater and we have a policy that doesn’t allow outside food/drinks inside the theater. If people have food/drinks, we offer to keep it in our refrigerator until their movie ends. There’s only one time been an exception, the owner let a little boy, who is allergic to coconut (our popcorn is popped in coconut oil), to bring his own popcorn from home.
I had a a family of 5 come in, and the mother had a to-go cup from Applebee’s. I informed them (before they finished their transaction) that she could not take in her drink and I offered the fridge. Her husband told me that his wife is diabetic and cannot drink what we have offered (Pepsi products, water, unsweetened tea, and coffee). My manager (yes, the transphobic, petty, bitchy manager I post about often) jumped in and said “she can drink water or unsweetened tea, we also offer cups of water free if you don’t want a bottle” and he got so angry and yelled at us, but my manager stood her ground and the wife left her drink in our fridge but opted out of the water option. My manager said had it been fruit juice of some kind and not a to-go cup from Applebee’s, she would’ve let her take it. But she didn’t believe they were telling the truth.
Would you have just accepted the husbands word as truth and let her keep her drink?
Or what my manager did, and make her leave it behind?
*if this isn’t controversial enough, I’ll move it but I wanted to start here since most of you have heard about my awful manager, though this time I agree with her*
