Did you bring your pump to the hospital?

I ordered my pump today and the person placing the order suggested bringing it with me.  Sounds like a good idea but I'd like to bring as little as possible, so what's your opinion??

The hospital usually has ones you can use so bringing one would be a waste of space. And you’re only in there for a short period of time where you’ll most likely just be producing colostrum anyways. Milk usually doesn’t come in until day 5-7 after birth

The only reason I would bring it is if you have no clue how to use it and your hospital has lactation consultants to come teach you.

I brought mine but ended up using one  that the hospital provided. It worked well and I didn’t need mine until I was home. I would check with the hospital about whether they have one available.

I wouldn’t worry about packing one. The hospital has ones you can borrow and they actually work better typically then the individual ones. You can borrow those while you’re in the hospital sometimes they even let you bring it home if your babies going to be in the hospital for a while. It was nice having a pump after the baby was born though. My second born didn’t grow well so I ended up pumping and supplementing a little bit I was glad that I had my pump before I had to have it and I didn’t have to race around to find one.

My daughter was a preemie and stayed in NICU for a week so I pumped in the hospital. She was 36+3 so when we left home we weren't sure that she would be in NICU but my DH picked it up(we live 5 mins away). I took every bit of colostrum to her that I got. You never know when they might need to be away from you unfortunately. I'd take it in the car just in case. It's nice to get the LC's help with them too.

My hospital provides a hospital grade pump and accessories.  I would call your hospital and check if they provide one or not.

I’ve heard of people bringing them in so the lactation specialist can make sure the flanges fit correctly and show you how to use it.

You shouldn’t pump until about 6 weeks when your milk has settled to the right amount for your bub also you will only have colostrum while in the hospital which can’t really be pumped anyway.
