Right now I’m having issues with my SO. He’s agreed and has gone to four sessions of counseling within the past 8 weeks. One minute he seems to be trying but other times it seems like he’s just taking for granted that I’m still around. I’m nearing the point where I just wanna be done but then I really do miss him and deep inside I do want it to work. I think he’s done things to show he wants the relationship but then he slacks. I’m starting to wonder if guys just walk a tight rope until they wear you down. 
What lengths has a man gone to in order to maintain the relationship but ultimately he wasn’t real?.....or was he? (Good endings are great examples too).

My SO and I fought a lot when we first got together, it was pretty brutal. We were both pretty fresh out of awful/emotionally abusive 10+ year marriages. At about 5 months in, I was done with the fighting and his jealous behavior, I didn't leave a toxic marriage to have another toxic relationship so I broke up with him. We lived an hour and a half apart at the time. He called and called and called and I ignored him. He shares custody of his kids and he had to pick them up by 6 pm so he left work and drove all the way to my house to convince me our love was worth saving and he would work on our issues. He made it back to get his kids with only 5 minutes to spare. He doesn't give up on us ever, no matter what. Breaking up is never a possible solution or even a thought that crosses his mind. We've come leaps and bounds since then and have an amazing relationship and family together. He is my soulmate and we love each other unconditionally and it's the kind of love I've always wanted from a partner. We had a very rough start but I'm so glad he drove to my house that day to change my mind ♥ I can't imagine my life without him in it.

There’s a name for what he’s doing but I can’t rem it😭😭
Anyways it’s kind of like a honey moon stage. He goes to counseling, everything is nice for a while but then he returns to old habits. If you’re really not wanting to leave then you have to put your foot down and let him know that you’re out if he doesn’t get it together.
