When’s the best time for baby #2?

I’m so conflicted. We’ve been ‘not trying not preventing’ almost a year now and to my surprise it hasn’t happened yet. Anyway our son turns 2 in two weeks and we just got married. We want them about 3 years apart. We’ve been talking more and more on baby number two and I get so excited but other times I feel overwhelmed. My son is starting tantrums and fighting sleep. He is also very attached at my hip. I’m just looking for some advice. Thanks

Honestly, I don’t think there is a “BEST” time.  I’m expecting little brother when my first son is barely 20 months old.  So two under two... fun.  This pregnancy wasn’t planned (my first was an IUI and I was told I would never conceive naturally... oops 🤷‍♀️), and we were also hoping for a three year gap as well.
 
My sister has been doing the same as you, but now her daughter is almost three and she is starting to have second thoughts, hehehe.  Her daughter was a nightmare during the terrible twos simply because she is so head strong and a mini diva.  The tantrums were really something, let me tell you.  While my niece is older now, my sister worries over how she would deal with a new sibling.  I think that A. It’s 9 months of prep anyways, B. A sibling changes a lot of things... you have to assess and shift.
 
Example, my son is being shifted from his pack n play in our bedroom to a toddler bed in his OWN bedroom at 18 months.  The big thing for us is that he really doesn’t seem to grasp that Mommy is pregnant and a little brother is on the way.  So I think it will be a bit of a shock for him.  I am having to shore up my patience in prep for involving him with carrying for little brother as much as possible so that he doesn’t feel left out.  My husband is going to help provide one on one time with him as well so that everything doesn’t evolve around new little brother.
 
So I would say when YOU feel ready, go for it.  Pregnancy can be a challenge the second time around running after a toddler, but it is doable.
