Cursing

I grew up thinking that cursing was the absolute worse. My parents and family have always been so against any type of cursing, saying that, my question is what is wrong with it? Lol. I’ve always wondered what made saying a curse word terrible but using substitute words like darn/dang and shoot or even saying what the f/freak was considered okay. To me it’s obvious that the words were replaced and made to sound like it but altered so they aren’t saying the actual word.

So, tell me this, what makes the words so bad?

P.s i grew up in a Christian home, so i know everyone didn’t live with the same experience
