Birthmark? Permanent? Temporary?

Hello ladies, first time mommy. My son is currently 5 weeks tomorrow and this little mark has gotten redder and more pronounced since birth. It was barely there when he was born. Doctor said it was temporary when he was 5 days old.. waiting to go back for our checkup. Just curious if anyone might know?!

My sister had it but it got smaller and disappeared

It could be a hemangioma. I have one also. They tend to get "worse" before it gets better. It's not a bad thing it'll just get more red but over time it should start to shrink. I'm not a doctor or anything but definitely ask when his check up comes around!

Hemangioma. My daughter had one on her head which is now covered by her hair . It gets bigger than slows down after about six months . It should fade with time but that can take 5+ years. I know they do have certain treatments to dry and fade/shrink them I am just not sure what they are.

Usually fades with the years but takes time. Have a cousin who's daughter has one on her knee and it faded lots. She is 4 now and it's still visible but not nearly as dark or puffy as it used to be.

I have no idea but I know someone with a birthmark on their face that looks exactly like that!! But who knows.. maybe it’s one of those things that has to get worse before it gets better? Lol I really don’t know what I’m talking about I’m only a ftm 🤦🏾‍♀️
