Ob or midwife??

Question

So i haven’t seen baby since I was 8 weeks and I am 18 weeks now and my midwife said I will get one more ultrasound at 20 weeks for anatomy ultrasound.. and that’s it but I’m wanting to see the baby at least once or twice after that but I guess I’m not able to. Is this only with midwifes or obs too!?

This is standard for anyone with a normal pregnancy.

All my pregnancies I had an ultrasound everytime up to twenty five  weeks and I had no risks at all. As did everyone else that I know was pregnant. It's weird that two would be the standard to me.
But if you want to see more, go get an elective sonogram!

It’s pretty normal.  My ob does 3 for the first pregnancy, the last one being towards the end to check your cervix but after that 2 is standard, unless you’re high risk.

Must depend on insurance and doctor. I got an ultrasound at 8 weeks, and 12 weeks. At my 16 week appointment we didn’t do ultrasound because i did my glucose (tested early to make sure I’m not diabetic to prepare for another big baby- passed my 3hr glucose) I’ll have another ultrasound at 20, 24-26 weeks and 30 weeks with probably having one more at 34 before delivering

You can see baby...you just have to pay out of pocket. All caregivers limit you to what insurance will cover. If there’s a reason for an ultrasound after 20 weeks it’ll be covered. But it’s really getter to not have a reason because it means everything is going well!

Honestly it just depends on the dr or clinic you go to because I’ve had drs  who give you one every visit and then only having like 3 total. I have a midwife this time and have an ultrasound every visit

Yep, totally standard. It's unnecessary to have more than two ultrasounds if you're not high risk. They should still check the heartbeat at each appointment.

This is pretty standard. You can always go to a private ultrasound clinic if you want to see baby more. Remember, while they are fun, ultrasounds are primarily a medical test. Unless they are necessary alot of providers, midwife or OB wont perform them.

I'm technically seeing both. The OB is over seeing my normal care and the midwives will do the delivery (if all goes well and I'm not transported to the big hospital with the NICU) then I'll only be seeing OBs but I'm getting scans every 2 weeks because I have Mo/Di twins and with the complications that can arise with them they want to watch them closely
