I need help with a crush!

I have a crush on this boy in my class I’ve been liking for 3 years, he’s really funny and cute, he’s very confident too. Idk what to do, my bff posted a boomerang on instagram of my crush, her and I and one of my friends pointed out that he thinks I like him, (which I do) because of the way I was looking at him. I came up with a excuse saying I was looking at the other side of the room, my bff told my crush that I don’t have a crush on him (etc). I really do have a crush on him but I doubt he’ll like me back. I want to tell him but I don’t want to ruin our close friendship. Please give me some advice on what to do, anything would be great.
