Clomid

So I’ve been having progesterone tests as my periods are so irregular & struggling to conceive. The doctors have said from my results so far it’s clear I’m not ovulating properly. I’m being referred to a fertility specialist & the treatment is apparently a tablet called clomid. Has anyone had the same experience and did they conceive/have regular periods? Any side effects from clomid? How long did it take?
