Baby bruised head immediately?

Question

My son (16 months) was in the bath & slipped and hit his head. 
I’m not kidding when I say this popped up IMMEDIATELY. Like I saw it the second he got up from slipping. 
Do bruises happen that fast?
He didn’t cry when he fell. He’s crying in this picture bc I was holding his head still for the picture lol. 
Is he okay? What do I need to look out for? He’s hit his head before but never like this!

Bruises appear much faster on the head because the skull and the skin are so close together. If you're really worried it doesn't hurt to get it checked out, especially with a head injury. But I've seen enough head injuries that I'd just watch his eyes and his behavior before worrying too much. 😊 (I work in daycare, I've seen kids that run with their eyes shut lol)

It’s easy for kids to get bruises but being that he hit his head, I would call the doctor just to be on the safe side.

He should be fine. My son hit his head on one of those basketball/soccer goal toys and bruised seconds after with a knot in his head. He was fine though, we gave him some Tylenol and he was good to go.

Honestly - that doesn’t look too bad to me. You want to be sure that the hematoma goes out of his head and not in.
