IVF fund jar at a wedding?

Do you think this is stupid? In getting married in April and instead of doing a registry or asking for gifts we would like people to donate to our IVF fund. Send out a letter along with invites and it'll be telling a back story of our journey. Also have our journey posted on a table at the wedding. Is this just not okay to do or what?

I think it’d be weird, 90% of the wedding guests give cash gifts anyways.

I wouldn’t. I think most people give cash at a wedding and you can put that towards ivf but outright asking for money isn’t appropriate

At my wedding, all but one person gave a cash gift. I don’t think it’s necessary to set up a fund

I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing that. At my wedding, we got 2 actual gifts and the rest were cash gifts. If wedding gifts in your area typically bring wrapped gifts, just don’t make a registry and they will get the hint. I think asking for gifts (money or otherwise) is a no no etiquette-wise 🤷🏼‍♀️
