Job interview at 34 weeks...would you mention you’re pregnant?

I applied for a promotional job a few months ago and the hiring process takes a while. I got invited to interview but I’ll be 34 weeks pregnant at that point (my bump isn’t that noticeable). Legally they can’t discriminate against me just bc I’m pregnant but I’m sure it’s still in the back of their mind bc I’d only be able to train for a month before take 2-3 months of leave. Would you bring up your pregnancy during the interview (like hey, full disclosure...) or wait until you’re potentially offered the job to say something?

While they can’t discriminate, if I hired someone and then found out that they were pregnant, and so close to giving birth particularly, I wouldn’t be happy. 100% be upfront or re-apply after you’ve had the baby.

Unfortunately, most of the time pregnant women don’t get hired because it is not in the best interest of a company. I’ve even seen pregnant women “let go” for BS reasons because they were pregnant. It’s difficult to to prove discrimination as well. With that said, if you tell them I doubt they will hire you. However, if you don’t tell them, they may be angry with the fact you didn’t disclose that to them. This is tough one. 🤔

I wouldn't mention it. Even tho they can't actually discriminate against you for it, doesn't mean they won't. Tell them after they hire you.

It shouldn’t matter that you’re pregnant. If you disclose it and they choose someone else for the job, then you don’t have the job. If you don’t disclose it and you get the job because you’re the best person for the job, who gives a sh*t if they’re angry? You aren’t an inconvenience. They chose the best person for the job. We as women can be way too concerned if people will be angry with us. Employers are obligated by law to work around pregnancy and parental leave, period. But if they know, employers in America have horrible track records of firing pregnant women and not hiring pregnant women when it’s obvious or fully disclosed. 
I used to work in a small company and was involved in the interview process. You wouldn’t believe the things the higher ups would say as reasons not to hire someone. Protect yourself- remember, everything is a business and they will be thinking about that first and foremost.

Maybe just reapply after you have the baby that way if they want to hire you upon interviewing you, you can start without interruption?

I had an interview at 30 weeks and I told them I was pregnant at it. I got the job, so I guess it just depends on the company.

I have interview at 34 weeks too, but luckily it is on skype because I live across the country. I plan on not showing my belly and only saying something if they continue to pursue me. If it is not obvious, then I would not say a word, but if they seem to take notice looking at your belly then I would say something at the end- you may have noticed I am expecting but I can assure you I am very interested in this opportunity. It is a tricky situation, good luck mama.

I ended up not telling the panel during the interview. They said they would bring back the top candidates for a second round of interviews so I planned on telling them if I got invited back to that. Well they apparently didn’t need a second round because they offered me the job today! I start in November 😊

Be honest and tell the truth. Why not tell them. If you really want the job you may get it. Been down that road before. Got hired and still had a job to come back too. But ive always just taken a few weeks off. I mean weren't you still pregnant when you applied anyways? And also if it is that big of a deal apply again afterwards.
