Small baby for 33 weeks

Lali

2 weeks ago I was told that I needed a growth ultrasound to measure my baby girls stomach because seemed to be small. Yesterday I had the sonogram done and they told me that she weights 3.8 pounds and it’s on the 8% percentile. Her stomach is on the 2% percentile. They verify the baby’s physiological panel and it’s ok as well as the blood flow of the placenta. She said it could be either one of two options: that she will be a small baby and will be born of 6.5 pounds or that there is something small on the placenta that has not been visible on the ultrasound. They want to monitor me twice a week, give me corticosteroids to mature the lungs just in case they see something concerning I will have to be induced early.

I did not expect any of this as I am 5’6” and my husband is 6”. I was born with 8 pounds and 21” of length.

I have faith that everything will be ok but it’s overwhelming knowing that every couple of days I will be paranoid if there is something wrong with my placenta.

Any words of encouragement? Have any of you had to pass through something similar?

Now I have to wait till next week to speak with my OBGYN and see if she agrees with the the recommendations the Radiologist gave me yesterday.

Blessings to all of you.
