Birth control problems!

I have started birth control for 2 weeks (yesterday started my 3rd week) but I stay sick and in pain most of the time. I am using Nuvaring because I didnt want to take a pill every day (my dr said I have to taken every day at the same time) I am used to taking meds daily (for heart rate) but I never taken them at the same time. The only options my dr gave me were Nuvaring or the pill. I cant deal with Nuvaring symptoms and don't want the pill.

Are there any other options? I can easily ask my dr about them but I'm not sure of any others that still allow a period to happen monthly.

P.S. I'm only using birth control for ovarian cysts but the pain is worse not better.
