Moving Out?

So, I am 19, and plan to move out with my boyfriend of a little over a year. We found out that I am pregnant two weeks ago, which is why we want to get our own place. Only conflict is my parents actually hate my boyfriend, and my dad would murder him if I moved out with him let alone if he knew we were pregnant. My mom found out last night that I wanted to move out and lectured me, saying how she would have to take me off her insurance, how basically I wouldnt get the car that was gifted to me (although I have been trying to get the insurance, title and registration under my name), and that it would basically ruin everything. Her other fear is that I will never be home, which, I probably wont with the way they act. My dad is an alcoholic who is just a sad 62 year old man and my mom works all day. I am ready to call DYFS on my parents because of the current living situation we are in. How can I move out, without causing a huge uproar and my boyfriend being murdered by my family?

Sounds like you are gonna have to grow up big time and in a hurry. (Not saying your aren’t) you gotta have a job save the mo eh and you and your boyfriend need to get shit together for the baby. You are gonna have to let your parent know that this is what you are choosing with or without their support. If they don’t like it they don’t have to come around or see your baby. It’s gonna be hard without support from your family but you can make it work. Good luck.

It doesn’t sound like there’s any way to not have them be upset about it. They’re gonna find out about the pregnancy eventually.
If this is something you want to do you’re just going to have to be prepared to handle it not going well. But you’re an adult and you have to make your own decisions. As far as the car goes, if it’s not registered under your name, I wouldn’t try taking it with you as they could claim you stole it. Just go ahead and start packing up, starting with a go back of essentials so that if need be you can just grab and go, leaving everything else behind that’s not necessary to take with you.
Otherwise, just start packing. So long as your boyfriend is a good man who doesn’t abuse you or mistreat you, I see no problem with moving in at 19 and pregnant. I was 18 when my husband and I moved in together back before we got engaged.

You need to pack while they are gone and leave. It sounds like things could get scary. Talk to them if you don’t think things will get physical. I hope you BF is an amazing guy and I have been in the 18 & pregnant boat as well. If you have any questions just ask! Ohhh and you need to immediately apply for state insurance because they cover pregnancy. It was my lifesaver.

I was in a similar situation when I was 17. To summarize, wait until you can leave without any financial strings attached. Wait until the car is 100% yours, start your own phone line, research health insurance (but don’t switch until she kicks you off herself. my father threatened to but never did). Make sure that when you leave, you won’t need to come back for any possible reason, and make sure that whatever they want from you as “punishment”, you can give up without it affecting you. You have to be 100% independent from them. Good Luck! It’s hard but sometimes it’s necessary.
