If you work from home, are you considered a SAHM?

I am 22 weeks and my job is going to let me start working from home 1 day a week leading up to leave. When my leave is over, I'll return to the office only 1 day a week to pick up mail/meetings and what not. But the remainder of the time I'll work from home and take care of the baby. My husband feels like that makes me a SAHM and therefore would be responsible for the typical SAHM duties. I feel like just because I'm home I'm not a SAHM, I'm just a mom that works from home lol so he shouldn't start expecting dinner to be ready when he gets home and I'm still only doing laundry once a week. Thoughts?

Not at all!! I work from home full time and my daughters home with me a few days a week. It’s basically working two full time jobs! My husband shares the workload at home.

Working from home and being a SAHM are 2 different things. Working from home is not a substitute for childcare and when it’s abused and used as such the privilege is revoked from what I’ve seen and experienced. 
That being said, I have a very flexible work from home policy and yes, when I do it and if time allows, I fit in getting laundry done, dinner started, a room tidied up, etc.

I work from home and no I am not a SAHM. In fact my kid is required to go to daycare by my company still. I WORK when I’m on the clock. Ask your husband if he can clean the house, cook dinner, or whatever “SAHM duties” are while he’s working (and keep a baby alive and happy!). It’s a little easier because I’m home alone during my lunch break—I can clean a room and eat at my desk after if I choose—but I sure as hell can’t if my son is home. His daycare is closed tomorrow and I’ll secretly have him home with me and my lunch break will be chopped into little minutes spread across the day for diaper changes and calming him down and feeding him. The house will be a disaster zone by the time my husband gets home. And thankfully he’ll cook dinner and help clean the house after. Honestly nothing irritates me like people thinking I can work a full-time job, care for a baby, clean the house, and cook dinner simultaneously just because I work from home.

I would take umbrage with the idea that a SAHM has specific duties outside of properly caring for my child (and maybe not tearing the house down in the process). Full time childcare is a full time job in and of itself.
Having said that, I would take double umbrage in your position! You’re still working your normal job, for goodness’ sake! I will work from home about 70% of the time and have the baby with me, but I will have to hire someone to babysit when I need to get some writing done or take important calls. My location doesn’t change my need for concentration; I’m not suddenly able to shirk my responsibilities so that I can go grocery shopping or whatever. My husband and I will still need to split the work of keeping our household running, same as always.
