Did my parents fail as parents

Question

I have 4 siblings and we all had kids before graduating high school. Our parents always get comments from family members and friends about how they failed as parents and should’ve been making sure that none of us had kids young after my oldest sister had her first at 15. It upsets me that my parents have to take the fall for our choices. It’s really no one else’s business

I was with my oldest sister when she gave birth...I was 13...traumatized afterward and then I watched her struggle and she was 18. I can’t imagine why y’all would not use triple-protection after seeing your sister go through it 😂😂😂
To this day I use a condom, pill, and pull-out for every sexual encounter😂
I just think it reflects on y’all, not your parents.

I don’t think it is their fault because they can’t be your moral compass forever. However I do believe they could have helped you guys have better options like birth control pills and/or condoms. You guys deserved to have a childhood and teenage years doing dumb crap but you in turn had to raise children.

Ummmm have any of your other family members ever met some a**hole teenagers? I mean no offense but I feel like most teenagers are lucky to not end up with out a child . My brother had a child at 16 and I didn’t but I was waaaaay worse overall than him as far as sneaking out going to parties etc. that doesn’t make my parents bad parents because they weren’t ! My brother and I were assholes who thought we knew everything and thought we were grown ; and obviously we were wrong ! My best friend got pregnant at 16 and had a miscarriage her parents were both cops and amazing parents ... again we were just rebellious teens . 
Is it unfortunate that all your siblings became teenage parents ? Hell yea . But it wasn’t your parents making decisions for you because if it was I’m sure it wouldn’t have happened . 
Your family seems like a bunch of dicks who need to keeps their bullshit opinions to themselves as I am sure your parents have enough parental guilt already .

I'm sure they could have made different choices as parents but honestly kids will do what they want to do and find a way no matter what. Ultimately by the age of 13 kids know for the most part right from wrong good from bad. Yes the parents are going to be blamed for not guiding yal but it's yals fault and have to live with it.

I think it’s weird that you’re worried about this now. If you were so concerned about how your parents would be viewed, you would’ve considered them before making the choices you did. Are you concerned now because you’re now a parent and don’t want to be blamed for the things your child does?  
Everyone on here is saying it’s not their fault but parents are legally responsible for their minor children.  So yes it was your jacked up decisions that caused this but they end up being the ones responsible. Who ends up with the hospital bill?  Your parents. Who ends up having to feed and shelter a child they didn’t have if their minor child has no job?  The parents. Legally they can’t even put you out if you’re a minor so they’re stuck with you and all the babies you bring into the house. 
It sucks for them that you made these choices.

I have two amazing parents. They raised us with an iron fist. My mother put the fear of god in me 😂 They weren’t mean by any means, but we were always heavily punished when we disobeyed. I was very straight laced growing up because of this. I was afraid to have sex before marriage, drink before 21, sneak out, etc. My younger sister (2.5 years younger) was a wild child growing up. We received the exact same parenting, and she got pregnant and had her son when she was a senior in high school. 
What I’m trying to say is that, you can have lenient parents or strict disciplinarian parents, but it’s your choices who make you. Not your parents’ parenting. If you had a happy childhood and know you are loved and supported, your parents did not “fail” you. If you don’t feel like your parents have failed you, they didn’t. People are just judgmental. 
Even though she had a baby as a teenager, you could never convince me that my parents failed my sister.

If you feel that you were loved growing up I don’t think they failed you. But they were definitely too loose with the rules.
