Baby's first dentist appointment - How did it go?

My son has his first dentist appointment coming up and I'm nervous that he won't even let the dentist see his teeth. He has 8 teeth and brushing them everyday is a wrestling match! I'm interested to see if anyone else struggled or how they dealt with it.

I haven’t brought my son yet. He’ll be almost two and I think I’ll try soon. He’s always been afraid of people and extremely clingy. My husband and I would have to go to Doctors appointment together cuz he would cling hard to me and I’d need the extra hands to help hold him still enough to get checked haha
So yeh. He’s improved a lot this year! Even gave his doctor a hug on his own. 
I’m just gonna need to find a patient dentist like our pediatrician.

Dentists are really good at handling little kids like that 😊 my daughter was a little under 1 first time she went and I figured itd be impossible for them to see her teeth but they had me hold her and they got her mouth open lol

The dentist let me sit in the chair and then have him on my lap. I think that made a world of difference 
They also let him “help” and hold the spit sucking tool.

I recommend finding a pediatric dentist. They are trained in handling children and I feel like they do a better job than my family dentist. Their offices are usually brightly colored and very inviting to young kids, which help with the nervousness. My daughter was a champ the two times we have been.

My son screamed nonstop from the moment we arrived to the moment we left 😳 We went to a pediatric dentist & everything. At least because he was screaming they did get a good look at his teeth....

I work in a dental office & have a 9 year old but he did great because I would always talk about it with him & prepare him . It has a lot to do with the dentist some don’t have patience. My son loves the dentist ! Good luck .

Omg my daughter hates the dentist and brushing her teeth. I feel so bad because I have to literally hold her down to brush her teeth. As she’s gotten a little older she does a little better but definitely not her favorite thing in the day
