Will an interested guy be turned off if they know your seeing others?

If a guy is interested in you, will it turn them off if you let them know you are still seeing others because you havent actually said to each other you are exclusive or will it make them try harder?

Kinda long story short, seemed like this guy was stringing me along... thought he was a player playing me, so I told him I hooked up with someone else for some fun, he then blocked my number. Bit annoying when he didnt seem all that interested. Im confused.

Is it salvagable???

UPDATE: found a way to get in touch with him and apologise. Seems he blocked me cause I blocked him first, not because of what I said about hooking up with someone else. Dont know if thats good or bad! But I guess he had a decent reason to block me then. Im still trying to determine if he is actually a player or not, but for now we are slowly communicating again.
