We only spent $2,500 for 35 guests. Best decision ever and everyone loved our wedding/reception! We took whatever money we saved up and put it towards a house instead of a wedding. No regrets here. We will be celebrating 22 years together/8 years married this February. So yeah, 15 grand is plenty for only 50 guests.

If you only have 50 guest coming you don’t need anything too extra. Go as cheap as you can girl a wedding is just a one day thing ofc make it memorable and beautiful but I’d be hyped to have a big house instead of a big wedding.

It’s one day.... I spent a grand total of 300$... my dress. My family made the food and cake, my mother in law paid the church, we made all the decorations. I’m not about the big wedding scene.

If he wants to spend that much than he should pay more. That’s ridiculous to expect you to pay half of the amount he wants esp when you make less than him. When me and hubby were engaged I made way less than him and he only asked from me just enough to cover the bills that his check didn’t cover and as he climbed ladders and made more money he didn’t want anything from me so I saved and we bought a house. Now I stay home and take care of our son. All the money he makes is our money not just his. I’d be careful starting out a marriage looking at money this way. You may start to resent him if your going through hardship trying to facilitate his lifestyle because he expects you to pay half of an amount you may not be able to afford. Just my opinion
