C- Section?!?

Question

Went to see the OB today and after my scan at maternal fetal medicine he wants me to have a C-Section. I’ve had 6 previous babies and all vaginally. The baby is estimated to weigh 7lbs and 13oz at 35 weeks and 5 days. I have had the last 3 pregnancies be wrong on weight. They always weigh less by a pound or two. I feel guilted into having a c section. Just not sure what to do?!? He gave me a lecture about how gestational diabetes babies die and they don’t know why when I asked about early induction. Has anybody else went through this?

Can you ask for a second opinion? I think it's ridiculous that your numbers are so fantastic, plus the fact that your last pregnancies have been decent weights and all vaginally. Tell him you'll compromise over an induction but a csection shouldn't be necessary. 
I'm going through something similar. I was blindsided about getting induced at 37 weeks. My numbers are great as well. This was with the maternal fetal doctor. I told them I wanted to speak to my OB first because I'm not okay with it. I told my husband that I will schedule it but I should get the right to cancel if baby is fine and I'm still doing well with controlling my diabetes. My last ultrasound scan baby was measuring in the 60th percentile. 
I think you just have to stand your ground. My cousin was almost 40 weeks and they were pushing induction. She actually cancelled it yesterday because she just didnt feel baby was ready. Today her water broke. Lol. So follow your body and be strong. Good luck!!

Typically there is a 10% margin of error with growth scans, but they were out by 25% with my baby. It's perfectly reasonable to ask him to explain why he thinks a c section is medically necessary with specifics regarding your particular circumstances. And ask specifically why he prefers a c section over an induction in your case. There may be a reason why, or he may just prefer the controlled procedure of a c section over a vaginal birth. Some doctors are more cautious, and/or prefer the predictive schedual of a section. It's always okay to seek a second opinion.
