Cat hit by car..... 🚨HELP!!🚨

This morning I saw a cat laying in the middle of the road. He was literally laying there, his head was up, he was fine. I think he was hit by a car and couldn’t use his back legs. I immediately hit my brakes, turned around and went back to get him. By the time I got back to him, he had been struck again. He bleeding and unconscious. I grabbed him, got him in the car and sped to the vets office. He was alive and breathing. He woke up once I got to the vet. He was growling at us so I don’t know if he is feral or was just in serious pain. He was split all the way down to his skull on his neck. They said hopefully he will be ok. I couldn’t just let him die though. So now, after losing my main paying job due to budget cuts, I have to find a way to pay to save him. I don’t know what I am going to do. I am going to reach out to the humane societies here and to the community. I can’t take him to the shelter here if he is feral or they will euthanize him. I am truly kind of lost and in a panic right now. I couldn’t just let the poor baby die though. Any advice would be appreciated!
