Homozygous MTHFR
UPDATE
Hello there, I was just curious about some things. My fiancé and I found out about the blighted ovum at 7w4d and my OBGYN blood tested me for MTHFR and a few days later I was positive for homozygous MTHFR. I had a D&C in late July, and was put on an IUD to allow my body to completely heal from the pregnancy before trying. I was also put on a medication daily for the rest of my life hahah, which is pretty much a Methylfolate medication. I also take two prenatals every day with an extra iron supplement to keep my iron up, as I have struggled with severely low iron for over 10 years. My fiance and I would like to try TTC at the end of December. I get my IUD out November 19th. I will continue to take my other medication as well as a fertility drink that has methylfolate and iron in it daily starting tomorrow. I was tested so soon for MTHFR (only one miscarriage) as I have two family members with this including my mom (who has has five miscarriages before finding out about her MTHFR. She was able to then conceive my brother, and carry him with the help from the same OBGYN. My dr. Stated she had no doubt if i took my medication everyday and kept my iron up I’d be able to conceive an have a healthy pregnancy, but I don’t want to get my hopes up.
Should I also take a baby aspirin everyday with my methylfolate medication? (I’ll ask her as well just curious)
Also, have you had a successful pregnancy after getting your MTHFR figured out and making lifestyle adjustments to help it? I don’t know what I’m really looking for here, I guess I just want to see what others have been through.
I appreciate any help at all!
This is what I’m taking!
