My son almost died today

Brooke

Today my 16 month old son, boyfriend, and I where all at a Halloween event at Kemah Boardwalk. They where giving out candy to children and of course my son wanted candy so I decided he could have a few pieces (we dont give him candy very often so he was excited) he had a half a piece of a chocolate candy and half of a piece of a gummy candy then I decided he could have a lollipop to hold in his mouth while I was holding him (it was one of those little dumbbell lollipops) well while we where waiting in line to buy tickets the lollipop stick broke off without us knowing and he just had the candy and part of the stick in his mouth. Before I even realized what was happening my son was choking on the candy. It was lodged in his throat and he was coughing so hard trying to get it out. I leaned him over parallel to the ground and I was slapping him on the back. He just kept coughing and coughing and his eyes started to water and his face started to change in color he was literally chocking in my arms and there was nothing I could do but slap his back. I was just seconds away from screaming into the crowd for help and finally, FINALLY my son was able to cough the candy up. My life flashed before my eyes, my knees and hands where shaking I was so close to losing my son forever. That was the MOST terrifying thing I have ever experienced. Right after that my boyfriend and I prayed and thanked God for sparing his life. My son will never have a lollipop again until he is very old!!! All I can say now is don’t give you little ones lollipops and thank you God for sparing my sons life!!!
