When your baby is in newborn station, are people gonna have to wash their hands to hold your baby and kisses won’t be allowed?

So when your baby is here or when your baby was first here, did you not allow kisses at all or only on some certain spots, did you tell everyone to wash their hands before holding or touching your newborn, until when did you do it or until when will you do it? Did you let a big amount of people by your lil newborn or only family or also close friends?

Yes 👌🏾 No one really had an issue with it or at least they did not say it to us 🤷🏾‍♀️ We pretty much knew our family and friends would not have a problem though. We also did not allow visitors, besides our parents and other relatives from out of town, into our home until our daughter was one week old. My parents and in-laws were the ones who really enforced our rules. They stayed with us for awhile (we live away from our families) after our daughter was born and they made sure every visitor washed their hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer, sometimes both. We also asked people NOT to kiss her. She is 12 months now and still the ONLY people besides us who are allowed to kiss her are our parents and grandparents. I honestly do not know what would make someone kiss someone else's baby anyways 🤷🏾‍♀️, but some people are just crazy. The flu was horrible in our area around the time our daughter was born and we wanted to protect her! Also, I exclusively breastfed so I had to protect myself as well. My husband, parents, and in-laws also had to protect themselves because we did not want to pass anything to her. We did not take her out anywhere, besides doctor's appointments, until she was two months old. The flu was just that horrible in our area. I did not leave the house until six weeks postpartum and that was to run to the nail shop for a quick Mani and pedi. As soon as I returned home, I took a shower. We had to protect her from those flu germs and as a breastfeeding mom, I did not want to get sick either. Of course, we became more lenient. By the time she was four months, she and I were out almost everyday on outings while hubby is at work. We have taken her on plenty of trips, including overseas, but we are sure to protect her. Our daughter turned one on Wednesday and has never been sick. I think we did a good job of protecting her 👏🏾

No family could kiss the baby til her shots . Once she got them, only family ( grandparents , aunts and uncles ) could kiss her on the top of her head and only there. Always have to wash hands

So background: I’m Caucasian and my husband is Taiwanese.  It is customary in his culture that people do not meet baby until after one month, excluding close family.  They also frown upon kissing the baby and going out that first month.  I do a one month “lay in” where both the newborn and myself stay at the house (except doctor appointments), and I have a special diet and simply focus on recovering.  This isn’t possible for everyone, but it helped limit exposure for my newborn and myself.
 
At the hospital I only allowed close family and friends - that is a small knit group as it is (3 households).  
 
Upon entering the room they had to wash their hands in WARM water and with soap.  OR they could use hand sanitizer.  
 
I made it clear that if anyone was sick in the household within the past week, please refrain from visiting and wait (many viruses are contagious BEFORE symptoms set in...).  My first was born in March (spring allergies), so if someone thought it was simply allergies, I asked them to wear a mask over their mouth AND wash their hands.
 
NO KISSING BABY.  This included Grandparents and even US as parents.  Not worth the risk.  It was our choice and I enforced it... if I catch you kissing on my baby you will NOT be allowed to hold my child again until after the 3 month vaccinations.
 
This may be too much for some, but last years flu in my area was NOT a joke.  I had a csection and the idea of being sick while recovering was NOT something to joke about.  Plus, having a sick child is simply heart breaking.  My oldest is 19 months and recovering from a 48 hour bug, and I just wanted him to feel better the whole time.

Mine was in the NICU for the first 3 weeks so nurses took care of a lot of that for us even though we are still that way and she’s 3 months now. No kissing on the face, always washing hands, and wiping her hands as well when someone is babysitting because she’s constantly got them in her mouth.

I made them wash their hands, and only certain people could kiss baby and it was preferably over the clothes. We had very limited visitors anyways, people were all excited while I was pregnant and the first weekend he was born, then scattered after that. So we didn’t have to worry too much.
Anyone sick wasn’t allowed over at all.

No sick people, but I let family kiss, no one else.  My family is very well educated medically, and sees a lot of stuff, so if they tell me they're not sick, I trust them.
