Abnormal Pap Smear - results in at 19+5 weeks

Hey all! Just looking for similar stories or advice.

The Medical Assistant for my OBGYN called this afternoon to tell me my Pap smear came back as abnormal. I had that done at my 12 week appointment. She started going through my history (I had abnormal Pap smears for two years in 2010 and 2011 and had two colposcopy procedures, it eventually cleared up). So I knew I had contacted HPV at some point but I never really expected it to flair up again, especially during my second pregnancy and after so many years being clear.

So the MA started asking when we could schedule a colposcopy and what birth control I was using. I said none, I’m 19 almost 20 weeks pregnant. She says “ohhhhhhh yeah okay. Well the doctor left for the day so I have to meet with her tomorrow to see the course of action and what she wants to do”.

So at this point I’m in tears. Not only because i hadn’t heard any results about my pap in 6 weeks so I thought I was in the clear, but my doctor literally didn’t remember or realize I’m 20 weeks pregnant. I’m not feeling very confident in that office at this point. Especially because the call left everything up in the air, AND because I’ve been seeing my doctor monthly since I’m, yah know, pregnant!

So I’m scared and worried. Have any other mommas had abnormal paps during pregnancy? What did they end up doing? How did everything turn out? Can this affect my baby or my ability to have a vaginal birth?
