DoTerra Oils

My daughter has a friend who’s mother has just started a Facebook page informing people how DoTerra oils can help them in their every day lives. She has asked me to attend a ‘class’ she will be leading one Sunday in her home. Before I attend I need to know what I’m in for. What is the objective of someone who is trying to get people to sign up to DoTerra? Is it purely a marketing stunt to get people to pay the sign up fee which in turn will encourage people to spend more money on oils to try to make up for the $35 subscription fee they’ve just paid? From what I gather it’s not like Tupperware where the host is trying to make sales, is this correct? I only ask this as I asked if I can buy Fractionated Coconut Oil from her and she said it would be better for me to pay the $35 subscription fee then I get 25% off all purchases after this? But how is this beneficial for me if I’m only after a product that costs $15-$30?

This mother claims she is only in it to try to inform as many people she can of the benefits of oils over pharmaceutical remedies, but I can’t help but think it’s some pyramid scheme where only DoTerra benefits

Please note, I think oils are great, I’m not against them, but I can’t help but think why aren’t these oils available to purchase in stores? The 25% discount will only benefit me once I spend over $140 to justify the $35 membership fee.
