Can you choose to get induced?

Question

I know what you’re thinking “why the hell would you want to do that!?” 
Well because my parents live in Japan and I really want and need my mom here (I’m by myself in Georgia) when I deliver my first baby (her first grand baby ) 
I can’t imagine her not being here and I deliver by myself 😭 but I feel if I were to set a day to get induced she’ll know EXACTLY when to get her ticket to come so she can be here with me. 
For anyone that’s curious the baby’s daddy is deployed overseas as well and won’t be here either .

Usually they won’t induce without a medical reason but it doesn’t hurt to ask your doctor.

Generally drs will only induce if they feel it’s medically necessary, not for convenience.

You could hire a doula/birth coach. I know that can’t replace your mom. But at least you know someone will be there to support you no matter the timing. Many times they will make house calls after, and get to know you leading up to the day.

Mr dr allows it after 39 weeks if you have progress (eg you're already dilated and effaced) otherwise you're at higher risk of c section which trust me you DON'T want (I've had 2 successful inductions and my 3rd ended in c section but was medically necessary)

With my second, i had asked my ob when they start inducing labors, she checked me and said she could induce me that day if i wanted to, i was 39 weeks and 2 days. You can ask your ob. I asked my ob for my current pregnancy and she said because my first 2 labors were quick, i can schedule one if i wanted.

You’ll have to consult with your doctor about it. It’s hit or miss because it’s all based on your doctor’s and hospital’s policies. Doesn’t hurt to ask though. :)

My doctor has never let me induce before 40 weeks. I’ve begged for it. I’m pregnant with my fourth and hoping this one comes on it’s own and right before 40 would be good.
