what clothing size will i most likely need for when my twins r born?

i realized that i dont have much newborn clothes, most is 0-3mo and on. im just wondering since twins are usually  smaller, should i make sure i have enough newborn size clothes or even premies???  it seems like the 0 to 3mo runs bigger than NB.  or should i not worry about that? any twin mommas that already had your babies your advise is welcome i would like to know about your experience 😊

0-3 will definitely be to big since they start out at 8lbs and newborn is from 6-8 pounds (I think) so I would say you will need some preemie and newborns to start out with.

My twins were born a few days shy of 34 weeks (less than 5 lbs). They stayed in the NICU for 20 days so didn't need clothes then. After coming home, grandma and auntie bought them 2-3 preemie outfits and 2-3 newborn outfits. They grew out of the preemie ones within two days and the newborn ones within ten days.

I have heard about 5lb is average. Some have told me to buy some preemie clothes but more newborn than you would buy for a singleton. Newborn is likely to still be too big early on by they'll quickly outgrow any preemie clothes you buy so I wouldn't buy many.

My son was 7lbs 4 oz and he wore new born for 7 weeks. My cousins baby was over 9lbs and actually she wore newborn for 6 weeks also. I had to buy more newborn after he was born because I thought I wasn't going to need any.

My advice: it's ok to put them in bigger clothes for the first couple of weeks. But definitely get some preemie and newborn outfits for cute photos!
